GAC strengthen coverage with new alliance in Malaysia

Gulf Agency Company (GAC) and Kudrat Maritime Group of Malaysia have signed a global network agreement that will provide a more extensive geographical coverage of port agency services offered by both the Swedish-founded international shipping group and the Malaysian partner.
Through the GAC-Kudrat alliance, effective from December 15, 2003, GAC will provide service coverage in the Americas, Europe, the Mediterranean, Black Sea, Africa, Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, Asia and Australia/Oceania, while Kudrat Maritime handles all Malaysian ports.
GAC’s group vice president, shipping division, Lars P. Heisselberg, said the alliance provides GAC with a strong operational presence in Malaysia and reinforces its commitment to Asia.
“We have experienced a robust growth in Malaysian ports. With important Malaysian port expansion plans in place, GAC’s collaboration with Kudrat Maritime will enable us to meet Principals’ growing needs for efficient shipping and port agent services in this part of the world.”
Ashruff Hassan, managing director of Kudrat Maritime Group, said Kudrat would enable GAC to become a global player with local expertise.
“Kudrat brings to the alliance two decades of experience, industry contacts and local knowledge,” he said, adding that Kudrat will also gain added strength from the GAC-Kudrat alliance.
“We look forward to reaping the benefits of GAC’s global shipping network, international sales support and its innovative IT solutions. GAC-Kudrat will give our Principals a much wider reach not only in Asia, but worldwide.”
