Maersk Line said its new technology has successfully carried out a trial shipment of fresh bananas to Rotterdam in the Netherlands from Davao in the Philippines using reefer containers.
Maersk said they used containers with a new controlled atmosphere (CA) system developed by Maersk’s StarCare reefer equipment.
StarCare is an exclusive Maersk Line technology specially designed to carry bananas on routes with transit times of over 30 days.
New technology allows fresh bananas to be shipped all the way from the Philippines to Europe.
This opens up new markets for far-away exporters and provides consumers all over the world with fresh fruit products.
