Sweden supports drug prevention in Golden Triangle

Sida, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, will support drug prevention activities in northern Burma and Thailand through a new aid package valued at SEK 6.7 Million to the Swedish organisation Diakonia.
Diakonia plays a key role in drug prevention work in the area. The organisation’s main focus is on ethnic minorities in poor mountainous areas where both production and consumption of narcotics is high.
Sida has supported Diakonia’s work there since year 2000.
This has resulted in knowledge and engagement among locals who have become better equipped to deal with problems associated to drugs and narcotics, claims Sida.
