Maersk Line has appointed Thomas Knudsen as regional head of its Asia Pacific business.

Knudsen will be responsible for the execution of Maersk Line’s day-to-day operations in Southeast Asia as well as Australia and New Zealand.

Singapore-based Knudsen will assume his new role from 1 November 2010, reporting directly to Hanne Sorensen, Maersk Line’s chief commercial officer.

“Thomas Knudsen brings with him 20 years of experience within the A.P. Moller – Maersk Group. I am confident he is the right person to steer our Asia Pacific business, an integral part of our global liner activities. His knowledge of the shipping industry, combined with his leadership qualities, will ensure continued customer and on-time focus in this region,” said Sorensen.
