Minister to China to Experience Cultural Exchange

The Norwegian Minister of Culture will be in Shanghai and Beijing until September 29th. This is the first visit to China by the Minister Huitfeldt and she will have a tight but comprehensive schedule during her visit.


The Minister is in China by invitation from the Chinese Ministry of Culture. The Minister will meet with her Chinese counterpart, as well as with the General Administration of Press and Publication, State Administration of Radio, Film and Television and Xinhua News Agency.


The Minister will start her visit in Shanghai where she will attend the opening of the seminar “The Architecture of Tourism: Authenticity, Heritage and Renewal” at the Norwegian Expo pavilion. Huitfeldt will also meet with the Vice Mayor of Shanghai for Cultural Affairs, representatives for Shanghai International Arts Festival and attend the opening of an architecture seminar for students at Tongji University.


In Beijing, the Minister will be involved in both cultural and political affairs. Huitfeldt will visit cultural and historic sites, such as the Forbidden City and Palace Museum and Olympic Stadiums, to learn about cultural heritage conservation and preservation. For a touch of contemporary China, Huitfeldt will visit the National Centre for Performing Arts and Today Art Museum.
