The Ambassador of Sweden, Mr Staffan Herrström says in the coming years, the Embassy of Sweden will restructure its development relation to a cooperation more driven by Vietnamese and Swedish partners themselves, including the commercial ones. He also underlined the potential areas for increased bilateral trade.
The Ambassador of Sweden made his remarks during his courtesy call to the Chairman of the People’s Committee of HCM City, Mr Le Hoang Quan on 19th October 2010. Mr Herrström told his host: “Though this is my first visit to HCMC as the Ambassador of Sweden to Vietnam, I saw a lot of opportunities for partner driven cooperation and increased trade in different areas such as environment and climate change; renewable energy, information technology and telecommunications, including value-added services solutions with an increased use of broadband Internet in areas like education and health”. Staffan Herrström also took the opportunity to once again thank the Municipal People’s Committee for its support and engagement in the “Green Solutions” event, held in the City last year.
In response, Chairman Le Hoang Quan expressed his sincere gratitude to the Swedish Government in supporting Vietnam during the war and in her re-construction and economic development. He also highly appreciated the contributions made by the Swedish companies in HCM City and stressed that the city welcomes more Swedish companies to come and do business in the city.
