Freedom for Suu Kyi This Afternoon

A Burmese senior police officer said on Saturday that Burma’s democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi will be released late this afternoon, Krungthep Thurakij Online website reported, citing DPA news agency.

“She will be freed about 6pm local time or about 6.30pm Thailand time”, Krungthep Thurakij Online website said, adding that the senior police officer did not want to be named.

Her supporters are now gathering at the National League for Democracy headquarters where Suu Kyi is expected to hold a press conference immediately after her release, the website said.
