Increasing Interest For Vietnamese Water

This year’s Vietwater 2010 Expo demonstrated that the water industry is experiencing increased interest from international companies that wish to engage in the fast development of the sector. In 2011 Danish companies will be invited to join Danish Water Days in Vietnam.

Vietwater 2010 received many visitors at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) on 10-12 November. The expo is the biggest and most integrated event in the water industry. This year’s event consisted of an International Expo and Conference, Technology Symposiums, and Business Matching and Networking events.

As a fast-growing developing country, Vietnam is experiencing growing demand for clean water for home and industrial consumption. Meanwhile, latest findings from UNESCO revealed that millions of people in the country still do not have access to clean water, which creates opportunities for many big-scale water supply projects. At the same time, new regulation and sanctions imposed by the government urges companies to improve their waste water treatment systems.

Hosted by the Vietnam Water Supply Association, Vietwater 2010 in HCMC was a combination of an exposition on the water industry and many other side-events such as symposiums and pre-arranged business meetings. With the theme of “Green Technology for a Sustainable Water Industry”, the exhibition attracted over 5000 industry professionals and experts and over 280 exhibitors from 28 countries including pavilions from the EU, China, the Netherlands, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam.

The Expo generated many million dollars worth of on-the-spot business transactions. It is also where water supply & sewerage companies, consultants, contractors, industrial wastewater treatment professionals and decision makers look for cost-effective solutions and technology.

Some of the international exhibitors at the Expo included:

• GRUNDFOS GROUP, a Danish pump manufacturer
• VAF FILTRATION SYSTEM LTD, an American producer of filtration systems
• BEHN MEYER, a German supplier of chemical products and equipments for water treatment
• ENGTEK PTE LTD, a Singaporean producer of water purification systems
• KRT SEWER REHABILITATION TECHNOLOGY FZE, a Swiss manufacturer of pipeline repair and renovation equipments
Vietwater 2010 created opportunities for local and international enterprises in the water industry to meet up, exchange experiences, find new partners, and achieve high visibility for their products and solutions in the Vietnamese market. This is also an international forum for issues on water supply and waste water treatment.
