The 3rd Session of the Bilateral Dialogue

The 3rd Session of the Bilateral Human Rights Dialogue between Indonesia and Sweden was held in Jakarta, on 29-30 November 2010.

The Indonesian delegation was led by Co-Chairs Ambassador Retno Marsudi, Director General for American and European Affairs, and Prof. Harkristuti Harkrisnowo, SH, MH, Ph.D, Director General for Human Rights, and the Swedish delegation by Ambassador Hans Dahlgren, Sweden’s Human Rights Ambassador.

During the dialogue, on 30 November 2010, both delegations exchanged views on a number of topics such as:
a). Exchange of experiences with the UN Human Rights Council, the UPR, and the Indonesian National Human Rights Action Plans (RANHAM),
b). Condition in Prisons
c). Tolerance, Coexistence and Freedom of Expression.


On 29 November, the delegations also made a study visit to Cipinang Narcotics Prison.


The two delegations noted with satisfaction the excellent bilateral relations and that the Human Rights Dialogue has expanded very positively since the last Dialogue held in Stockholm, April 2009.


At the concluding remarks, the delegations agreed that there was a great potential for further bilateral human rights cooperation and dialogue. The next bilateral human rights dialogue will be held in Sweden in 2011.
