“For 16 consecutive years, we have partnered OCM in the OCM-Carlsberg ARS which serves to protect deserving athletes with life insurance coverage,” said Carlsberg managing director Soren Ravn.

“We believe the scheme will benefit more sportsmen and sportswomen and motivate them to focus on giving their best to make Malaysia proud.”

Datuk Nicol David, R Puvaneswaran, Chai Fong Ying, Ho Ro Bin, Liew Kien Liang and Adrian Ang Hsien Loong were among those present.

“The OCM-Carlsberg’s Athletes Retirement Scheme is very beneficial and encourages athletes to be more successful in their career” said Nicol.

A total of 28 gold medalists in the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games will receive whole life policies worth between RM10,000 and RM100,000 each.

Athletes who won individual gold medals were given policies worth RM50,000 and each member of a gold medal winning pair received policies worth RM25,000. Teams of more than two athletes who won in New Delhi and Guangzhou will receive policies valued at RM10,000 each.

In conjunction with the event, Carlsberg Malaysia also made a cash contribution of RM 5,000 from the Carlsberg Golf Classic Charity Fund to Persatuan Rumah Kebajikan Rita and Pusat Penjagaan Kanak-Kanak Istimewa Sri Sai for their expenses.

“We hope that the meeting with national athletes will motivate and inspire the underprivileged children to strive for greater achievement despite the challenges faced by them,” said Ravn.
