Danish Consulate Signs New Agreement

After a period of friendly dialog and business discussions, The Danish consulate in Chongqing and the district government of Tongliang signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which is aiming to attract more Danish investments to the area.

Singing of the agreement by Vice governor of Tongliang Mr. Liu Guohua and the Consul at the Danish Consulate in Chongqing, Mr. Hans Halskov. Governor of Tongliang, Mr. Tang Chuan, and chief at Chongqing Foreign Trade & Economic Relations Commission, Mr. Hu Ji, attended the ceremony.

The MoU will serve to make it easier for Danish SMEs to get in contact with – and get best possible terms from – the relevant government decision makers when establishing a new factory in the area. Tongliang, which has a population of 810.000, is believed to posses some unique features, which makes it particular competitive for years to come in terms of costs, as the prices tend to increase much slower in the areas outside of the traditional industrial zones.

The MoU is a part of the Consulates DAM-project (Danish Assembly & Manufacturing), whose purpose it is to make establishment easier and cheaper for Danish SME’s in West China, through the consulates preliminary work, which includes screening of third party suppliers within the fields of industry parks, lawyers, accounting, transportation, translation etc.

“Manufacturing in China can often open doors to new market opportunities, as your conditions of production are getting in line with the domestic competitors,” Hans Halskov said after the signing.
