Finnish Kallio Signs With Thai Club

Two-time defending Thai Premier League champions Muang Thong United have signed former Fulham player Toni Kallio.

Nicknamed the “Bonecrusher” because of his physique and his playing style, the Finland defender has joined the Kirins on a one-year contract.

Kallio said: “It is great to join the best team in Thailand. It is another challenge for me. I also received an offer from Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premier League but I think Muang Thong have ambition for more success.”

Muang Thong have also signed goalkeeper Weera Kerdpudsa from relegated Bangkok United as cover for their number one shot-stopper Kawin Thamasatchanan who is nursing a broken finger.

Bangkok Glass have signed former Olympique Lyon player Sylvain Idingar on a two-year contract. The French player won the French league title with Lyon in 2004.

The 2011 TPL season kicks off next month.
