Finn Sets Fire to his Finnish Friend

Hell hath no fury like a Finn falling out with his friend. He may even take to dousing him with petrol and setting the house on fire, almost razing it to the ground and incurring damage in excess of 5 million Baht. His friend even had to leap from the blazing building to avoid being roasted.

At 09.30 am; Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Unit staff of Pattaya, Chonburi, were notified that there was a fire raging at commercial building No. 128 Moo 9 Soi Sophon cable TV, Pattaya Third Road. District, Central Pattaya, Nong Prue, Banglamung, Chonburi.They immediately dispatched five fire engines and one cable car to cooperate with Pattaya Police and traffic support.

They found a 3-storey commercial building burning severely  from the ground floor and progressing to the second floor. Fire officials deployed water spray and, after approximately 15 minutes, were able to bring the fire under control.

The ground floor had been converted to a restaurant named “Lyons  Restaurant” equipped with tables, chairs, sofa, bar table, kitchen; they were incinerated. Moreover, fire had also spread to the second floor and nearby rooms, causing structural damage to the building.

Mrs. Panporn Krathok, 37 years old, girlfriend of Mr. Saima Jani; 33 years old, Finnish nationality, was injured in the accident. She reported to 2nd Lt. Surachok Kangwanphanit that prior to the accident; Mr. John Paul Heanrikm Erris Finnish nationality, 41 years old had argued vehemently with her boyfriend, Mr. Saima Jani. Mr. John Paul Heanrikm Erris poured petrol on Mr. Saima Jani and then ignited it. The fire spread to the ground and other properties in the shop quickly. Villagers saw the scene and alarmed the Fire Brigade.

The police detained and charged Mr. John Paul Heanrikm Erris. The damage from this fire is estimated at more than 5 million Baht.
