Important Visit About Immigration Issues

Ambassador Mikael Hemniti Winther and Consul Tove Wihlborg-Andersen have made a courtesy call to the Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, Pol. Lt.Gen. Wiboon Bangthamai.

During the visit, which was held in a cordial atmosphere, several issues of interest to Danish visitors to Thailand were discussed. Among these was a request from the Embassy to better inform visitors to Thailand that it is the entry stamp, which is stamped into the passport on arrival, which specifies how long a visitor is allowed to stay in Thailand, and NOT the visa issued at a Thai Embassy abroad, which many visitors seem to misunderstand. The Commissioner promised to look into this.

Also discussed was whether there is any limit to the number of times in a row a visitor can enter Thailand on a tourist visa. The Commissioner stated that there is no limit, but also mentioned that it is up to the decision of the Thai Embassies abroad to decide whether or not to grant a tourist visa.
