Thai Cabinet Approves Waiving Toll Fees

Motorists will be allowed to use two motorways free of all toll charges during the Songkran festival next month, to improve traffic flow.

Deputy government spokesman Supachai Jaisamut said on Tuesday the cabinet had approved a proposal from the Transport Ministry to waive tolls on two expressways over the Songkran holiday.

The waiver applies to  motorway no 7 (Bangkok-Rayong and Bangkok-Pattaya) and the Outer Ring Road or motorway no 9 (Bangkok-Bang Pa-In-Bang Phli)  from 4pm on April 8 until midnight, April 18.

The toll exemption is part of government measures to ease traffic problems on roads below the expressways.
