Sorenstam, who already had a daughter Ava with husband Mike McGee, posted the message on Monday, about an hour after her son was born.

“SURPRISE! I went into labor today & William Nicholas McGee was born at 6:33 PM. I’m well. Will is hanging in there fine for being 27 weeks,” Sorenstam posted.

Sorenstam retired from the LPGA Tour after the conclusion of the 2008 season with 73 career triumphs, including 10 major titles.

Her son’s arrival came five days past the 10th anniversary of Sorenstam firing a 59 at a tournament in Phoenix, making her the first woman to shoot below 60 in a tournament round, a score equal to the lowest US PGA 18-hole score.
