Danish Embassy Launces Microblog

Today, the Danish Embassy officially launches its Sina microblog with a design competition. The price is an exclusive tour of the residence of Ambassador Friis Arne Petersen.

Since the Danish Embassy in Beijing opened its Sina microblog three weeks ago almost 25.000 bloggers have signed up to follow the microblog.

Today the microblog will be officially launched with a quiz on Danish design and architecture where competitors can win an exclusive tour of the residence of the Ambassador to learn more about Danish design.

In the residence you find some of the best examples of Danish furniture and design, including furniture by the world-known Danish architect Arne Jacobsen.

Already the Danish Embassy’s microblog is the fourth biggest embassy microblog on Sina, having more followers than that of France and Australia. Only the microblogs of the US, UK and Japan’s Embassies have more followers.

Furthermore the Danish Embassy is the first of the Nordic countries to launch a Sina microblog.

The Danish Ambassador sees great possibilities in the microblog and looks forward to participate in the online dialogue.

“With this blog we wish to engage even more people in an open dialogue about our two countries. I’m looking forward to take part in this dialogue with some of my own thought and observations as Denmark’s Ambassador to China,” says Friis Arne Petersen.

The microblog offers a unique opportunity to interact with the followers and many people have already posted comments on the blog.

A lot of the followers have commented on a post about how the Ambassador likes to ride his bike. Readers say that he represents the spirit of Denmark, and one writes, that he deserves the title of “Ambassador from the kingdom of bikes”.
