Finnish Coffee Offer MP Not Guilty of Bribery

Petri Salo, the Finnish National Coalition party MP who offered to buy a police officer a cup of coffee when stopped for speeding, has seen the original not guilty verdict upheld at Vaasa Court of Appeal.

Salo had been cleared of bribery in the original case last autumn, but the prosecutor appealed. Salo was convicted of aggracated endangering of road safety, however, and had to pay 300 euros costs.

The bribery charges were dismissed for lack of evidence at the original trial, at Ostrobothnia District Court, but the prosecutor appealed and the appeal was heard at Vaasa Court of Appeal.
