Gunnar Søiland leaving Bangkok this weekend

Gunnar V. Søiland, Principal Engineer of Norwegian Petroleum Directorate who is based in Bangkok on a regional petroleum policy management project for Southeast Asia, funded by Norwegian Agency for Development (NORAD), is ending his assignment this week.
     During his two-year posting in the region, Mr. Søiland has coordinated a number of workshops, open seminars, dissemination seminars and other related activities organized in cooperation with authorities in many of the countries, such as Thailand, Cambodia, and the Philippines. The purpose of the project is to assist the countries in developing more sustainable and efficient national petroleum management policies.
     Mr. Søiland and his family will on June 26 leave Bangkok for Norway, where Mr. Søiland will resume his former job at the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate. His job in Bangkok will be taken over by Mr. Simplicio Caluyong from the Philippines, who will run the project until its completion in 2006.
