Thai Fjord to be shown on SVT

The Norwegian TV series “Thai Fjord” about the love between Norwegian men and Thai women has been bought by SVT to be broadcast in Sweden – and may be watched in South East Asia by viewers with SVT decoders.
SVT has bought the first season of the gold-winning series that went on TV in Norway 2008 under the title “A Little Piece of Thailand”. The series has been named “Thai Fjord” because the village, where many of the mixed couple live, is colloquially referred to as Thai Fjord, although the real name is Tres Fjord.
“It is very inspiring, and enjoyable because the SVT is a quality conscious channel,” says producer Hilde Skofteland of Skofteland film which has produced the series
“Documentaries are hard to finance and expensive to make, so it is very important to sell products abroad,” she adds.
“I appreciate the way “Thai Fjord” turns upside-down our prejudices and preconceived opinions,” says SVT’s Jesper Petterson.
