Nicolas Winding Refn, the Danish director of acclaimed thriller, Drive, is pushing ahead with upcoming Thai-Boxing movie, Only God Forgives, which he expects to begin shooting in Thailand within the month of September.
The film, in which a Bangkok police lieutenant and gangster settle their differences with a Thai boxing match, will star The Notebook fame Ryan Gosling alongside local Thai actors including Vithaya Pansringarm (Hangover 2) and singer-actress Yaya Ying.
International sales are split between two French companies Wild Bunch (Australia) and Gaumont (Asia except Japan and Indonesia). The film has already found a US distributor in FilmDistrict. It will be released next year.
