Finnair Opens Sales Office in Indonesia

Beginning this October, travellers from Indonesia looking to visit Europe for business or pleasure, have the option of flying Finnair to their favourite European destinations.

This was made possible with the appointment of AVS Indonesia as Finnair’s General Sales Agent for passenger sales in Indonesia. The Finnair – AVS partnership was officially announced on 6 October 2011 at a function for the Indonesian travel trade at the Shangri-La Hotel in Jakarta.

Finnair’s Sales Director for Singapore and South East Asia Petteri Kostermaa said Finnair is interested in exploring the Indonesian market.

“With the country’s robust growth, more and more Indonesians are travelling to Europe for business and pleasure. Setting up a sales office is the first step in a process that may lead to Finnair opening a route to Jakarta,” he said.

The appointment of a GSA in Indonesia is part of Finnair’s vision to be the ‘most desired’ airline between Asia and Europe by 2020. Passengers flying Finnair to Europe will be routed via Singapore to Helsinki.

In Indonesia, Finnair is partnering several regional airlines to offer connections from Jakarta, Denpasar, Surabaya, Medan, Makassar and Palembang via Singapore to Europe.

Finnair has also announced new promotional fares from Singapore to Europe which are on sale only for the month of October to celebrate its 88th Anniversary on 1 November 2011.

Promotions include Economy Class flights to Europe from SGD 1,250 (including taxes and fuel surcharges) and Business Class fares are from SGD 4,888 (including taxes and surcharges).

These promotional fares are available from until 31 October 2011 and for travel until 16 December 2011.
