Chinese foreign minister meets Danish counterpart

On 12 December 2012, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met with Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs Villy Sovndal to enhance cooperation between the two countries.

During their meeting, Yang hailed the current bilateral ties, highlighting the pragmatic cooperation between the sides in trade and economy, environmental protection, agriculture, technology and education.

“The Chinese side is willing to make joint efforts with the Danish side to advance bilateral ties, on the basis of mutual respect, equality and reciprocity, in a sustained and in-depth way,” Yang said.

Sovndal said Denmark looks forward to more political interactions and cultural and people-to-people exchanges with China, as well as closer cooperation in two-way investment, sustainable development, renewable energy, technological innovation and medical care for the old to promote the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations.

Li Jianguo, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of China’s National People’s Congress, also met with Sovndal on the same day.

Sovndal made an official visit to China from 11 December – 13 December 2012 after Yang’s invitation.
