A new offshore wind turbine installation vessel built in China has been delivered to a Danish shipping company, marking another milestone in the close cooperation between the two countries’ maritime industries. Global Times reports.
The vessel, Fengsheng, was built by COSCO Shipping (Qidong) Offshore Co., Ltd. in Jiangsu Province and officially delivered on 21 July before departing on its maiden voyage.
Designed for the latest generation of offshore wind farms, the vessel can install wind turbines rated at 20 MW and above. It features a deck area of more than 5,600 square metres, a payload of 17,600 tonnes and a main crane capable of lifting more than 3,300 tonnes.
The delivery highlights China’s role as a major shipbuilding hub for the global offshore wind industry and the continued cooperation with Danish shipping companies in the renewable energy sector.
