The Ambassador visited the fishing communities because they are pilot sites for Danish support to sustainable coastal fisheries in Myanmar, according to the Embassy of Denmark in Myanmar.

Denmark supports the establishment of fisheries co-management committees which will work together with the Department of Fisheries in developing plans for more sustainable use of fisheries resources.

Activities includes combating illegal and unregulated fishing as well as support to better handling and processing of fish after capture so losses will be reduced and quality improved.
