This week, representatives from the Danish Energy Team in China accompanied Danish companies on a visit to Nantong to explore opportunities in the country’s green maritime sector.
The delegation included Hempel A/S, Hoyer and Baettr, who joined a programme focusing on green developments in shipbuilding and maritime engineering. During the visit, the group met with Jiangsu Hantong Group Co. Ltd. and the top management of Cosco KHI Ship Engineering Co. Ltd.
They also attended the opening of the 2025 National Advanced Manufacturing Cluster for High-Tech Ships and Maritime Engineering Equipment fair in Nantong, where Danish company Nilfisk presented its solutions.
Shipping accounts for close to three percent of global greenhouse gas emissions, making the sector a key focus for the green transition. China, the world’s largest shipbuilding nation, is increasingly moving towards LNG-, ammonia- and methanol-ready vessels. Exchanges like the Nantong visit underline the role of knowledge sharing in advancing greener shipping technologies.
