Danish singer-songwriter Maximillian has spoken about his connection with Chinese listeners following his first concert in Shanghai.
The Embassy of Denmark in China met the artist before his performance at Cave Art Venue on Friday, 14 August. In a video interview published by the embassy, Maximillian discusses his journey to China and the experience of hearing audiences sing along to music created around 9,000 kilometres away in Denmark.
The embassy describes the Danish artist as having thousands of fans in China. No specific Chinese streaming or ticket-sales figures were provided.
The Shanghai performance was followed by a concert at B10 Live in Shenzhen on 16 August. The two shows were part of a Chinese tour connected to Maximillian’s latest album, I’m Fine, which was released by Stellar Records on 15 May 2026.
Maximillian, whose full name is Maximillian Viktor Rasmussen, first attracted a large Asian audience through his 2019 song “Beautiful Scars”. The song became particularly successful in the Philippines, where it had generated more than 15 million Spotify streams by June 2020.
