Thailand’s embassy in Stockholm has highlighted the role of Thai teachers in supporting the Thai community in Sweden.
Ambassador Arunrung Phothong Humphreys opened the annual meeting of the Association of Thai Teachers in Sweden on 22 August. The online meeting brought together around 38 Thai teachers from municipalities across the country.
The teachers used the meeting to exchange experiences and discuss approaches to teaching. The association also introduced its new executive committee for 2026 and presented its recent activities.
The ambassador said Thai teachers have an important role beyond language education. They also help children and young people growing up in Sweden maintain connections to Thai culture and identity, while supporting their participation in Swedish society.
The embassy and the association have worked together on several activities, including the 2026 “My Dream Songkran” drawing competition. The competition received 164 entries from children in 17 municipalities across Sweden.
The embassy said it will continue to support cooperation between Thai teachers and efforts to strengthen the Thai community in Sweden.
