A Danish woman who moved to China after nearly two years of an online relationship features in the first episode of a new travel series from Danish public broadcaster DR.
Julie, from the Danish town of Videbæk, travelled to China to meet Jiayi in person for the first time. Her story appears in Anne og Anders i Kina, which premiered on DR1 and DRTV on 20 September.
The hosts are Anne Hjernøe, a Danish TV cook, and Anders Agger, a journalist and documentary presenter. They have travelled together for several DR series, using food and conversations with local people to explore life in the places they visit. Their earlier journeys include the Nordic countries and the United States.
In China, the pair begin in Shanghai and Hangzhou. The three-part series also takes them to Chengdu, Chongqing and Beijing, where they meet people living amid the country’s rapid changes.
