The fifth round of free trade negotiations between the Philippines and the members of EFTA – Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland – started on 1 February in Manila, reports the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Manila.
Different working groups continue discussions on trade in goods, services, investments, intellectual property rights, among others as follow up to the ongoing negotiations.
The foreseen results and opportunities of the free trade agreement will enrich bilateral economic relations and activities between the Philippines and EFTA countries. EFTA, World Trade Organization and the European Economic Area are the cornerstone of the Norwegian trade policy.
EFTA stands for European Free Trade Association and is an intergovernmental organization set up for the promotion of the free trade and economic integration to the benefit of its four member states.
The fourth round of free trade negotiations between the EFTA States and the Philippines was held from 24 to 27 November2015 in Geneva, Switzerland.
