Embassy of Norway urges its citizens to avoid traffic to Pitak Siam rally

Thai authorities yesterday have announced exemptions in Phra Nakhon, Pomprap Sattruphai and Dusit districts of western Bangkok (east of the Chaophraya River), in connection with the planned political demonstration against the government at the Royal Plaza (Dusit Palace Plaza) on Saturday 24 November. The invocation of the Internal Security Act (ISA) will be effective until November 31.

In practice, the act provides police with extended powers and armed forces may be ordered to help maintain law and order.

According to a statement on the Embassy of Norway website, Norwegian citizens in Bangkok are urged to avoid travel in the area while the demonstration is in progress, and otherwise keep abreast of the situation and follow instructions from local authorities.
