Filipino alternative rock band Mayonnaise headlined the first Himig Musikahan Pinoy Music Festival in Bergen, Norway, on Saturday, 22 August.

The band performed several of its best-known songs, including “Jopay” and “Tayo Na Lang Dalawa.” The concert marked Mayonnaise’s first performance in Norway.

Seven Filipino bands based in western Norway also took part in the festival. They came from Bergen, Stavanger, Haugesund and Stord.

The participating groups were The Irie Herbs, Bed Spacer, Pens and Needles, Big Uhaw, Kamao, Alter Vibes and Terraces Band. Each group included an original song composed for the occasion in its set.

The festival aimed to provide Filipino musicians in Norway with a platform to present their work. It also promoted Original Pilipino Music and Philippine culture to the local community.

Filnor Sunnhordland and Filipino Culture & Sports – Vestland organised the event at SMEIN Laksevåg in Bergen.

The Philippine Embassy in Norway congratulated the organisers and participating musicians following the festival. It also thanked Mayonnaise frontman Monty Macalino for joining the event.

Organisers indicated that they plan to hold another edition of Himig Musikahan.
