Finland and Malaysia are looking to strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas including digitalisation, artificial intelligence, renewable energy and the circular economy, as the two countries seek to expand economic and technological ties.
The opportunities were highlighted at a recent event in Malaysia, where Finnish representatives encouraged greater cooperation between Finnish companies and Malaysian partners.
Areas such as advanced manufacturing, education, research and innovation were also identified as having potential for closer collaboration.
Malaysia is increasingly positioning itself as a gateway to the wider ASEAN market, offering Finnish companies opportunities to expand their presence in Southeast Asia. For Finland, the cooperation provides access to one of the region’s key manufacturing and business hubs.
The two countries have also identified the green transition and digital transformation as areas where Finnish expertise could complement Malaysia’s economic development priorities.
