Norwegian food supplement companies are looking to expand commercial ties with Thailand following their participation in Vitafoods Asia 2026 in Bangkok.
Ten Norwegian exhibitors presented products and technologies at the event, held from 2–4 September at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre.
The companies included producers and developers specialising in marine-based omega-3, krill, marine iron, healthy ageing and supplement delivery technologies.
The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Bangkok and the Thai-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce organised an exclusive reception alongside the event, bringing Norwegian exhibitors together with Thai importers, distributors and other industry stakeholders. Around 90 people attended the 2026 reception, according to the Chamber.
The initiative comes as Thailand’s dietary supplement market continues to grow. The source estimates the market was worth approximately 91 billion baht in 2025 and projects it could reach 189 billion baht by 2033.
Jostein Aksnes, vice president of the Thai-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce, said the two countries have complementary strengths, with Norway bringing expertise in marine resources and research and Thailand offering manufacturing and distribution capabilities.
The cooperation also comes ahead of the expected entry into force of the Thailand–EFTA Free Trade Agreement on 1 January 2027, which is expected to create further opportunities for trade and investment between Norway and Thailand.
The Chamber said follow-up discussions will focus on potential partnerships in distribution, ingredient sourcing, product development and investment.
