Finnair; Europe’s leader to Bangkok

The airspace between Helsinki and Bangkok will be blue and white in the upcoming winter season. Finnair will offer 17 weekly flights from Finland to Bangkok making them the biggest European airline on the market.

finnair_marimekkoThe departures will begin in late December and the intensified air traffic will continue until the end of March. The three new flights that will bring Finnair up to a total of 17 weekly flights to Bangkok will departure on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Thailand is a hugely popular destination for Danes and Robert Öhrnberg, Chief of Finnair Denmark, is very happy to accommodate the Danes’ growing demand for flights to Thailand.
“I’m so happy that we are able supply the Danes with flights that fit their demand so even more Danes vil have the opportunity to travel to Thailand in the winter,” said Robert Öhrnberg.

Though the Danes are very fond of travelling to Bangkok, it has always been a very popular Asian destination and it is not only the Danes who will be heading towards a warm breeze in the winter.

“Thailand has been a popular destination for Finns and other northern Europeans and with us having the most weekly flights to Bangkok and other destinations in Asia, we are on our way to doubling our turnover from the traffic in the Asian airspace between 2010 and 2020,” said Pekka Vauramo, CEO of Finnair.

In addition to Bangkok Finnair also offers 28 weekly flights to three cities in Japan and 28 weekly flights to five cities in China. They also offer flights to Delhi, Hanoi, Seoul and Singapore.

  1. With Scandinavian Airline Systems having withdrawn from Bangkok, Finnair is now the only Nordic airline with direct connections between the Nordic region & Thailand (& Southeast Asia).
