Finnish development financier Finnfund has signed a $15 million loan agreement with Vietnam’s EVF General Finance JSC. Announced on 29 September, the financing will support small and medium-sized businesses, particularly those led by women.

EVF provides loans to businesses across Vietnam. The company also finances green projects, including renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Antti Partanen, Investment Manager at Finnfund, said the partnership would help improve access to finance for women-led businesses. Finnfund classifies the investment as 2X-compliant, meaning it meets criteria designed to advance women’s economic participation.

Meanwhile, EVF’s Director of International Markets, Dinh Ngoc Bao, said the agreement would strengthen the company’s long-term funding. He also highlighted plans to develop its environmental, social and gender standards.

Established in 2008, EVF serves smaller businesses and corporate clients nationwide.
