Finnish painter invites to Bangkok art exhibition

The 6th JeOn Art Booth Annual Workshop Exhibition, titled ‘Diversity’ opens in Bangkok, Thailand, with a reception on July 25, featuring the Finnish artist Anne Rantanen.

This is a joint Art Exposition helt at Chamchuri Art Gallery, Chulalongkorn University, showcasing a new body of work.

The exhibition presents artwork produced last year by the workshop member artists. JAB is an art circle of traditional Oriental painting by general public who live and work in Thailand. Regardless of the member’s nationality, it has actively performed its art programs and regularly held its member shows since 2001.

Anne Rantanen is a finn who came to Bangkok for the first time 34 years ago.

“In 1981 I started to study traditional Chinese-ink painting with Mr Lim Eow Opas Harnvanich. Now in 2015 my paint strokes are strong and I’ve found new ways of expressions by combining Japanese paper with water and fire,” says the painter.

This ‘Diversity’ exhibition features the works by six member artists, four invited Thai artists and the program director of JeOn Art Booth who is also the curator of this exhibition. Celebrating the third exchange exhibition with the professional local artists, ‘Diversity’ aims to inspire the members for their creative desire and to seek for various methods of art creations, whiling having wider experience of art practice. As the title of this exhibition implies, the exhibition will highlight a variety of materials and techniques incorporated in their arts.

“It is our hope that this exhibition will provide an opportunity to explore how different ideas and working methods about ‘diversity’ are presented through art.”

Invited artists, aside the Finn, are: Bhira Phokthavi; Nuttapong Prompongsaton; Orawee Bumpetch; Terawat Teankaprasith; JAB members Athapon Limpanapongthep, Min-Hee Jeon, Phithan Thechaniti, Saijai Nimnual, Suzan Lee, and Gi-ok Jeon (JAB program director).
