On his visit to Singapore 28 February and 1 March, Foreign Minister Brende marked the opening of the new Asia headquarters of DNV GL in Singapore. He also officiated the opening of the new DNV GL laboratory at Jurong, one of the most advanced facilities of its kind in South East Asia.
A key message throughout was that knowledge and innovation is at the core of the economic co-operation between Norway and Singapore – and that joint efforts in this area will be enhanced. The Foreign Minister also stressed the important part played by companies like DNV GL and others in tackling global challenges.
The visit also served to reinforce strong political ties – the Foreign Minister met with four members of the Singaporean government during his visit.
Last but not least, the Foreign Minister also met with representatives of the Norwegian business community, the largest such community in Asia.
– The visit by Foreign Minister Brende early on in his tenure confirms the importance Norway attaches to its relationship with Singapore, says Ambassador Tormod C. Endresen.
