Swedish musician and educator Lars Andersson will join Norwegian musicians Jan Bang and Ingolv Haaland at Jazz & Friends X in Hanoi on 6 November.

The concert brings together nearly 100 Vietnamese and international artists at the Vietnam National Academy of Music. It forms part of celebrations marking the academy’s 70th anniversary.

The programme combines jazz with Vietnamese traditional music, a chamber orchestra and music technology. Artists from the United States and the United Kingdom will also participate.

Nearly three decades of cooperation

In a message marking the anniversary, Sweden’s embassy in Vietnam highlighted nearly three decades of cooperation between Swedish and Vietnamese musicians and educators.

According to the embassy, that partnership has helped develop jazz education and strengthen cultural ties. It described Jazz & Friends X as a continuation of the collaboration.

The anniversary programme also includes a seminar on jazz and music technology, scheduled for 5 November. Its topics include live electronics, composition, performance and the use of technology in music education.

The main concert will take place at 8pm on 6 November in the academy’s Grand Concert Hall at 77 Hao Nam, Hanoi.

The organiser’s website provides a reservation link and further information about the programme.
