New Danish Consul General appointed in Shanghai

The Danish Consulate General in Shanghai has welcomed Jens Alsbirk as its new Consul General.

Alsbirk brings extensive diplomatic and commercial experience to the role, having served in several senior positions within the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

Most recently, he was Deputy Head of Mission at the Danish Embassy in Kyiv. From 2018 to 2022, he was Consul General in Dubai, and between 2005 and 2009 he held the same post at the Royal Danish Consulate General in Guangzhou.

In addition to his diplomatic career, Alsbirk has worked in the private sector. He was Deputy Head of Global Market Support at the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI) from 2003 to 2005, Director of Public Affairs at Vestas Wind Systems from 2010 to 2013, and Deputy Director for International Affairs at the Danish Chamber of Commerce.

“I look forward to helping our Danish companies establish themselves in the Chinese market and hopefully contribute to keeping a strong Danish-Chinese collaboration,” Alsbirk expressed in a Facebook post on the Embassy’s page.
