Mr. Kim Højlund Christensen, Denmark’s Ambassador, Mr. Kari Kahiluoto, Finland’s Ambassador and Ms. Grete Løchen, Norway’s Ambassador were on a two-day field trip to Lam Dong, Vietnam around 26-27 March 2019 to catch on recent collaborations as well as to seek for future opportunities between Vietnam and Nordic countries.
Located in the Central Highlands region of Vietnam, Lam Dong Province was well-known for its agriculture products such as tea, coffee and vegetables and these products were the main purpose the 3 Ambassadors came to Lam Dong for.
As a part of the trip, the Ambassadors visited two coffee plantations and a vegetable farm for export to gain insights of the agricultural value chain in Vietnam and the way high-quality Arabica and Robusta coffee was harvested and processed in Lam Ha District.
The Nordic Ambassadors also visited many companies operating in Lam Dong and met with leaders of Lam Dong Province led by Mr. Nguyen Van Yen – Vice Chairman of Lam Dong People’s Committee.
According to Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam’s Facebook page, water and sanitation were the key supports that Denmark have been assisting Lam Dong Province for many years and with the supports from Denmark, Lam Dong was able to provide more households accesses to hygienic water and sanitation.
“Denmark assisted the province to build water supply plants, develop a water supply network for Da Lat City, and eventually provided both funding and technical assistance to build water schemers and latrines for the rural population.” wrote Denmark’s Embassy in Vietnam.
