A delegation of Nordic buyers will attend Vietnam International Sourcing 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City as Vietnamese producers seek to expand their presence in Nordic food markets.

Vietnam International Sourcing 2026 (VIS 2026) is a major trade promotion event scheduled for September 3–5, 2026, at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre (SECC) in Ho Chi Minh City.

The delegation is being organised by the Vietnam Trade Office in Sweden, which also covers Denmark, Norway, Iceland and Latvia, as part of its 2026 trade promotion programme.

Vietnam International Sourcing 2026 will take place from 3–5 September at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre. The event is expected to bring together more than 500 Vietnamese manufacturers and international buyers through business matching, factory visits and industry seminars.

Food importers are among the main participants in this year’s Nordic delegation.

Swedish companies A Chau Lien Imports and Export AB and East Asian Food AB will return for the third consecutive year, while Lagerqvist AB will participate for the first time.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang Thuy, Head of the Vietnam Trade Office in Sweden, which also covers Denmark, Norway, Iceland and Latvia, said that the repeated participation of Nordic companies shows that the event is developing from an initial matchmaking platform into a practical sourcing channel.

Previous editions have allowed importers to meet suppliers, test products and negotiate pricing, packaging and distribution arrangements.

The cooperation has already helped bring a wider range of Vietnamese products to Nordic shops and restaurants. These include frozen Vietnamese baguettes, lotus leaf-wrapped shrimp sticky rice and ST25 fragrant rice.

More recent additions include cassava, green papaya, frozen field-crab soup mixture, dracontomelon drinks and eight-treasure lotus seed tea. Specialty rice products such as dragon-blood red rice, purple sticky rice and upland glutinous rice are also attracting interest.

The expanding product range reflects demand extending beyond traditional commodities and into processed foods, convenience meals, restaurant ingredients and products associated with Vietnamese regional cuisine.

However, Vietnamese suppliers must meet demanding Nordic requirements relating to quality, packaging, labelling, traceability and shelf life.

For unfamiliar products, packaging must clearly explain what the product is, how it is prepared and why consumers should choose it. Frozen products also require reliable cold-chain handling and consistent shelf stability.

Direct meetings at the sourcing fair give buyers and producers an opportunity to discuss these requirements before products are introduced into Nordic distribution networks.

The sourcing initiative comes as Vietnam’s trade with several Nordic countries continues to expand.
