Norway distributes rice seedlings to Philippine Farmers

After two months, on the same date after the devastation brought by typhoon Yolanda, the Norwegian Foreign Minister Borge Brende brings new hope for the farmers that were hardly affected.

“This is the seed of hope, the seed of recovery, and seed of restoration,” Brende expressed during the distribution of seeds, according to the PIA.

Brende distributed sacks of rice seedlings to farmers in Barangays Can-abay, Tingib and San Antonio together with the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

“Farmers can now start to plant rice again as a sign and beginning of their recovery,” he added.

After he distributed the seedling, the foreign minister also announced that Norway is giving another $8 million to the Philippines in support to its total help of $43 million.
