Do you want an internship at one of the most exciting embassies? The Embassy in Beijing is seeking three interns for a period of six months for Norwegian students. Desired start is August 2013. Deadline for applications is April 1.
The stay provides great insight into the work of a Norwegian foreign service mission, and good opportunities to acquire knowledge about the Chinese economy and society. It is important that trainees are integrated into the daily work at the embassy, which will give an insight into the foreign service business.
Key tasks will be gathering information and reporting on politics and economics, work on cultural projects and the embassy’s website, facilitating the visits of Norway and to attend at various meetings and conferences. It will also be necessary to undertake other tasks.
Applicants must have an interest in social issues, have good written communication skills and demonstrate the ability to commit, flexibility and personal initiative. The working language is English and Norwegian. Chinese language skills and experience in China is not required but should be mentioned in the application. The stay is not paid. However, it will be given a grant of NOK 7.500 per month if the trainee does not receive grants from the State Educational Loan Fund. The intern must cover travel to and from Beijing.
Applicants must be Norwegian citizens and granted voluntary membership abroad, It is a requirement that applicants are registered students at an accredited educational institution. If you have completed a bachelor’s degree and not participating in a program of study, it is still possible to apply if they intend to continue their studies towards a master’s degree after the trainee period.
