Norwegian King tells Myanmar to speed up democratisation

Norway’s King Harald on a four-day state visit to Myanmar told Mizzima that the country needs to carry out many tasks to speed up the democratisation process.

“Myanmar is one of the countries supported by our nation. As it attempts to complete the democratisation process, Myanmar should strive to speed up the steps,” said the King; speaking at the Park Royal Hotel, Nay Pyi Taw on December 1, following his meeting with National League for Democracy leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.

In an earlier speech King Harald pledged to also co-operate with Myanmar in environmental conservation, forestry and the livestock breeding sectors.
