Norwegian Minister led virtual UN Environment Assembly

The fifth session of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-5) took place on 22-23 February 2021, under the leadership of Norwegian Minister of Climate and Environment Mr. Sveinung Rotevatn.
The overall theme of UNEA-5 is “Strengthening Actions for Nature to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals”. There were 151 member States registered and connected online including Vietnam.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Sveinung Rotevatn said “We should be proud that we are able to meet today. It proves how seriously and important we consider the environment to be. In 2022 it will be 50 years since the creation of the United Nations Environment Programme. This meeting will also represent the start of celebrating UNEP@50 – an opportunity to look back with pride at what has been achieved, as inspiration to the global environmental agenda for the future”
