Norwegian oil and gas companies not shaken by Euro-zone crisis

At OSEA Exhibition and Conference 2013 in Singapore, an all-time high of 26 Norwegian companies participated at a Norwegian pavilion organised by Innovation Norway.
Other large Norwegian companies, such as Kongsberg Maritime and Nexans, were represented with their own booths in the outskirts of the Norwegian pavilion. The presence of many different companies, producing everything from expansion bolts to highly specialised offshore vessels, illustrated the diversity of the Norwegian offshore industry.

The mood among the OSEA participants was positive – many noted that the offshore oil and gas sector is relatively unaffected of the economic turmoil in Europe, and that offshore activities in Asia are set to grow strongly in the years ahead. Participating companies took the opportunity to meet potential clients and improve ties with existing ones.

Along the aisles visitors were ushered in to a range of product demonstrations, food tastings and other activities intended to serve this purpose. The Norwegian pavilion featured servings of waffles and aquavit, hopefully a heartwarming combination. Norwegian offshore partners INTSOK, Innovation Norway and the Royal Norwegian Embassy co-hosted a reception in conjunction with Norway’s participation at OSEA 2012.

The Norwegian offshore industry is based on experience gained through four decades of offshore oil and gas exploration on the Norwegian continental shelf. Expertise and technology developed for the harsh and technically challenging conditions off the Norwegian coast are in increasing demand worldwide. A considerable part of the Norwegian businesses in Singapore are serving the global need for enhanced offshore energy production.
