Queen Silvia has fallen ill, forcing her to cancel her expected trip to Singapore. According to a statement from the Royal House, she is currently suffering from a respiratory infection.

The Queen planned to travel with King Carl XVI Gustaf from November 19 to 21. However, he will now make the journey alone. The Royal House expressed, “The Queen looked forward to visiting Singapore and regrets that she cannot accompany the King on this trip.”

In light of her health concerns, the Royal House emphasized the importance of rest and recovery for the Queen.

This visit initially aimed to strengthen relations between Sweden and Singapore. Notably, a delegation of approximately 40 Swedish companies, government agencies, and educational institutions was organized through Business Sweden at the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard and Infrastructure and Housing Minister Andreas Carlson planned to attend.

The royal couple has actively engaged in international diplomacy. Therefore, this trip represented an opportunity to further enhance ties and foster collaboration between the two nations. Queen Silvia’s absence will be noticeable since she has played a vital role in promoting Swedish interests abroad.

As the situation develops, the Royal House will provide updates on Queen Silvia’s health and her expected return to public engagements. Meanwhile, the royal family appreciates everyone’s understanding and support during this time.
