Residents of Finland can vote in Finland’s municipal elections 2021 from abroad

If you are a resident of Finland staying in Asia at the moment you have the option of advance voting in Finland’s municipal elections 2021.

The local elections in Finland will be held on Sunday 13 June 2021. Advance voting from abroad takes place from 2 June to 5 June 2021. Voting is possible at Finnish embassies and consulates and their places of business in 75 countries. There are a total of 106 polling stations abroad.

If you have the right to vote in the municipal elections, you can come to the embassy to vote without an appointment, and below is a list with specifications of time and dates depending on location. Remember to bring your ID with you.

In Malaysia, advance voting will be possible at the Embassy of Finland in Kuala Lumpur from 2 to 3 June between 9 am to 4 pm.

If you need police permission to travel to vote, you can request the embassy for a support letter. Send your request to the embassy by email to [email protected], and give your name, passport number, home address, and voting date. Please send your request three days before voting day.

In Thailand, advance voting will be possible at the Embassy of Finland in Bangkok from 2 to 4 June between 11 am to 4 pm and 5 June between 9 am to 4 pm.

In Singapore, advanced voting will be possible at the Embassy of Finland in Singapore from 2 to 4 June between 10 am to 5 pm and 5 June from 10 am to 2 pm. 

If you live outside Thailand, Malaysia, or Singapore, contact your local Embassy to check where and when advance voting is possible.
