Scandinavian Christmas with full house

The Scandinavian Christmas service in Christ Church in Bangkok was attended by close to 200 people who filled the church completely. It was the second time to celebrate Christmas in Bangkok for the Danish vicar Christa Lund Herum and the first time for the new Swedish vicar Erik Stenberg-Roos.

Following the tradition, different parts of the Christmas gospel was read in different Nordic languages, in Icelandic by Thordur Adalsteinsson, in Norwegian by Stein R Hansen, in Danish by Peter Dalberg and in Swedish by Staffan Herrström.

This year, a special event was added, since we had a Danish confirmation of Alexander Østergaard Hansen.

Danish saxophone player Jakob Dinesen and his wife Yasmin Kierkegaard played and sang beautifully during the service and eventually, Yasmin Kierkegaard even managed to make the congregation loosen up and go into Gospel mode, singing “Amen” and “Hallelujah” along with her.

After the service, Scandinavian Society Siam was hosting an opportunity outside the Church to wish each-other a Merry Christmas over a glass and some Christmas snacks provided by Scandic Restaurant.
